Yan Qiao

This botanical piece features a cluster of soft pink, white, and pale violet blossoms blooming against a moody, dark backdrop.

The artwork focuses on creating a sense of depth and atmosphere through fluid wet-on-wet blending. The background is composed of deep green and grey washes with hints of bright chartreuse peeking through, mimicking the effect of dappled sunlight filtering through a garden canopy. The delicate, translucent quality of the petals stands out against the rich, dark values anchoring the bottom of the scene. It is a calm, organic depiction of nature.
