Yan Qiao

Inspired by the iconic scene from The Wizard of Oz. The artwork depicts the four main characters—the Tin Man, Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, and the Scarecrow—viewed from behind as they walk together toward a brilliant, glowing green and yellow light on the horizon.

The painting focuses on creating a magical atmosphere and describing a variety of distinct textures, from the metallic surface of the Tin Man to the soft, heavy layers of the lion's fur. A deep blue, subtly spattered starry sky frames the top of the piece, while the strong central light source reflects smoothly onto the dark ground below. The composition balances structured character definition with fluid, atmospheric washes.
